How to Become a Member

The International Society of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism invites applications for membership to those individuals who have an interest in cerebral blood flow, metabolism, and function, from basic to clinical aspects across a wide spread of interdisciplinary fields.
The criteria to evaluate your application for ordinary membership are based upon your contributions to a field relevant to cerebral blood flow and metabolism:

  • At least two refereed papers (first author, including articles in press)
  • Alternatively, one refereed paper plus two abstracts for international meetings related to that field.
Please note! Papers that are not first-author and other contributions will be considered, although papers under submission or in preparation, and other factors, e.g., positions and professorships, will not.
Your application will be reviewed by the Membership Committee: Dr. Ute Lindauer, Experimental Neurology, Charité Hospital , Berlin , Germany ; Dr. Norihiro Suzuki, Department of Neurology, Kitasato University , Kanagawa , Japan and Dr. Roland Auer, Department of Pathology, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Membership categories are as follows:


Regular Membership - open to individuals who have an interest in cerebral blood flow, metabolism, and function, from basic to clinical aspects across a wide spread of interdisciplinary fields.
Emeritus Membership - Members will be eligible for Emeritus Membership upon retiring from their regular professional duties. Emeritus members will receive all ISCBFM newsletters and are eligible for reduced registration fees to ISCBFM meetings.
Members interested in Emeritus membership are asked to contact the ISCBFM Administrative Office
Junior Members - Individuals may hold Junior Membership for a maximum of 4 years and are not eligible for Junior Membership after age 35. Junior members are not entitled to vote in the elections of the Society . Applicants that do not yet have authored or co-authored publications should provide information about their past and current scientific activities. You may apply for bursaries for the biennial symposia. Most importantly, your membership will help you to stay at the forefront of new research and knowledge concerning cerebral blood flow, metabolism, and function.
