The position is open to M.D.s or Ph.D.s with interest in treatment and basic mechanisms of recovery after stroke and traumatic brain injury. The fellow will work with a team of 4 senior investigators – Raymond A. Swanson, MD; Stephen M. Massa, MD, PhD; Midori A. Yenari, M.D.; Jialing Liu, Ph.D. – to explore multimodal approaches to improving recovery from these conditions. The fellowship program is flexible, and will provide trainees with broad experience in animal models, behavioral outcome measures, and a variety of histological techniques. The fellowship goal is to provide trainees with the background and experience required to successfully obtain independent career support in the area of rehabilitation basic science research. Appointments are for 2 - 3 years. Applicants must be citizens of the U.S. and be no more than 2 years post-residency for M.D.s or 4 years post-doctorate for Ph.D.s.
