Call for Satellite Meeting of Brain/BrainPET 2027ISCBFM is accepting applications from active Society members for partial sponsorship of Satellite Meeting of Brain/BrainPET 2027 that are related to the overall scientific goals of the society and of potential benefit to its members. The Education Committee of ISCBFM will conduct the initial review of all submitted applications and then forward their recommendations to the Executive Committee for the final decision. Sponsorship funding can be budgeted at the discretion of the organizer, with travel awards to young investigators highly recommended. Support is only for onsite activities (not online) and all funded proposals must provide a summary of the meeting to the society shortly following the conclusion of their meeting. Call Goals (to be stated early in the application):
Eligibility: Applicants must be society members with active membership for 2026-2027. Meeting support is available for small meetings of up to 150 attendees for up to one and one-half days; exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis with proper justification. This support is available to satellite meetings that are affiliated with the Brain/BrainPET 2027 meeting (either before or after the Brain/BrainPET 2027 meeting) and offer an in-depth focus on topics relevant to cerebrovascular science. All requests should cover onsite activities (not online). The satellite symposia should take place either immediately before or after the BRAIN&PET2027 Meeting and in locations close to the main meeting venue. Other dates or locations should instead be considered for next year’s Small Meeting Symposia Call. Funding Policy-Support Available: Proposal evaluation: Proposals submitted thorough the website will be evaluated by the Education Committee. Successful proposals will include evidence of agreement from proposed speakers. A report with scores and funding recommendations will be sent to the Executive Committee that will render a final decision. All applicants will receive a decision email from the Chair of the Education Committee notifying the funding decision on their proposal together with a short summary of the evaluation. Sponsorship award: The funded proposals will receive remuneration after the meeting following receipt of a detailed listing of meeting expenses and receipts. Expense reports must be sent to the ISCBFM managing office and to the Treasurer. Post-award requirements: All documents or digital posts announcing the event should acknowledge the support of the ISCBFM. During the meeting, organizers should also display promotional slides for the ISCBFM and its activities, which will be provided by the managing office. A post-meeting summary must include meeting materials that highlight ISCBFM support with final details on the number of attendees, final agenda, venue, speakers, travel bursaries awards, social events, etc. This summary should be sent to the Education Committee Chair within one month after the end of the meeting. Evaluation process
The Education Committee, with the possible addition of outside reviewers, will evaluate and score the applications based on the stated criteria (see below). The applications will be ranked and sent to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the final award decision.
Procedure to apply for financial support for ISCBFM The applicant must be an active member of ISCBFM. The applicant must be on the Organizing Committee of the meeting requesting support. The standard language must be English. Submissions for the sponsorship may be submitted using the link below.Scoring criteria (10 points per item, total score 70) Significance and Value to the Society: Describe the stated purpose of the conference/course and the scientific relevance in the field. How will the topic/activities of the course specifically benefit the Society as a whole and its members. Candidate courses should address the scientific priorities of the Society, in both scientific/conceptual as well as technical advances. Actions/activities taken to attract new Society members and to promote future high-quality submissions to the JCBFM will be positively considered. Audience: What is the targeted audience of the conference/course? Describe why your event is valuable for people attending from both local and international participants. How will the conference/ course benefit Society members and is there a pathway to bring new/junior members into the Society through participation in the conference/course. Include a specific plan as to how this conference will help expand Society membership or encourage high-quality publications at the JCBFM. Candidate courses should have a substantial, although not necessarily exclusive, appeal to young scientists, including a formal mentoring component in the agenda. The Society will favor proposals funding travel bursaries to young investigators or students, with encouragement to join the Society. Faculty/Invited Speakers: Provide a list of proposed/invited faculty with tentative/secured topics. Candidate conferences/courses should include faculty from within the Society as well as investigators from outside but related fields in order to broaden the knowledge base of the Society. What is the international spread of the proposed faculty? What are the qualifications of the organizers, including previous history of organizing such conferences or courses? Please indicate which speakers have confirmed their assistance, their career level (Senior vs Early Career) as well as working institution. Agenda: What is the planned duration of the conference/course and what is the proposed agenda? What are the titles of the sessions, the length of orals and the time for posters, if any? Are there plans to ensure both formal mentoring as well as ample informal interactions between senior investigators/faculty and young investigators. Preference will be given to conferences/courses that have plans for both formal and informal interactions/mentoring between established senior investigators and young scientists. Preference will be given to conferences with plans to include minorities as well as young scientists from underrepresented areas. Venue: Describe the proposed venue for the conference/course including details of meeting room space, break out space, and dining space if relevant. If a multi-day event, will the housing be in close proximity to the meeting space? Otherwise, there is transportation organized? What are the arrangements for persons with disabilities? Are there arrangements for childcare? Are accommodation and meal expenses included in the registration fee, or are they offered at discounted rates? Budget: What is the proposed budget for the entire conference/course and what is the requested amount from the Society? Will the support from the Society be earmarked for a specific expense category or dispersed for general expenditures? Please provide a detailed justification for the budget. Preference will be given to applications proposing ample support for young investigators/trainees, minorities, and individuals from underrepresented areas. Please, specifically state which funds have been secured, which are expected and its percentage in relation to the whole budget/requested budget. |
